ADVERTISEMENTS  (Spiritual Directors/Soul Care Practitioners in a Christian Tradition)

When finding a spiritual director/ soul care practitioner below, please note:

Always exercise your own good judgment when selecting a director.  When meeting with a spiritual director feel free to directly ask your director about their qualifications, including: 1) their training and educational background; 2) credentials and certification (if applicable); 3) theological or faith perspective; primary spiritual influences.  You and your director should also have a frank and up-front discussion about fees and frame, etc.

Spiritual Directors for Clergy:   Shepherd Heart has added a classified section for the paid ads of spiritual directors who claim to have specialized training in direction.  In publishing spiritual directors’ paid advertised listing, Shepherd Heart Ministry Consulting is not endorsing these directors, and is not responsible for the quality of their services to you or anyone else.  Shepherd Heart does not credential nor accredit any spiritual director, nor verify directors’ claims about themselves or their practices.  Choose from this (and any other) listing at your own risk.

Spiritual Affiliation:
Christian

Formal Training:
Moravian Theological Seminary – M.A . Theology Studies & Certificate in Spiritual Direction; Oasis Ministries for Spiritual Development – Certificate in Spiritual Direction.

Personal Statement:
“As a life-longer seeker of God, my formation started early in my life. I am scholar as well as practitioner of God’s ways. My master’s thesis brought together the Babylonian exile and the healing power of community around non-life-giving attachments.”

“Kim grew up in a minister’s home and knows first-hand ministers and individuals called to nurture the body of Christ lack time and space to meet all the needs of the congregation. Called to “one anothering” those in leadership is the space in which she finds herself and God’s work…Growing up with a front row seat on church work, God uses this background in listening to church leaders. God built us to be with one another, and Kim sees spiritual direction as beautiful gift to leaders and seekers who long to heal, be transformed, and grow in God. “

Anderson School of Theology and Christian Ministry Masters of Religious Education

Personal Statement:
Sensing a call to blend my experience as a pastor and teacher through ministry, I became certified as a life coach in 2019 through the International Professional Institute for Coaching. My niche is serving women experiencing stress and worry. Through my coaching I have found fulfillment and love for the work of coming alongside women with support and insight to help them live victoriously in their lives of faith. I coach women of faith and also non religious clients. I care about people and their emotional and spiritual well-being. I am grounded in Scripture and continue to make my spiritual and emotional life a priority.

I work with clients via Zoom or phone in 60-minute sessions. Clients schedule appointments through my website. I follow the Protestant traditions informed by John Wesley (a holiness tradition) with active participation in the Church of God (Anderson, IN) and the Church of the Nazarene.Journeying with people involves identifying with them the needs, hopes and desired areas of growth. Using active listening and reflective questions assists clients toward self understanding in relationship to their situation and concerns. Insight and discernment are sought together and potential growth strategies discussed. Accountability and follow-up are important components. Prayer is an appropriate element of sessions.

Personal Statement:
“I emphasize the “hospitality” aspect of this ministry. My role as a director is to provide a safe place for the seeker to discover God in their life. Although my training is biblically based and anchored in Ignatian practices, I believe the training I have received in contemplative and meditative practices transcends religious boundaries…”

Spiritual Direction is often intended for discernment and spiritual growth.  If you feel that you are facing an emotional or mental health crisis, a referral for therapy from a licensed mental health professional is more appropriate than direction.
