Find a Therapist

When finding a therapist, please note:

Always exercise your own good judgment when selecting a clinician. When meeting with a therapist/clinician, feel free to directly ask your clinician about their qualifications, including: 1) their training and educational background; 2) credentials and licensing; 3) theological or faith perspective; 4) professional experiences and areas of specialization (why they feel especially well trained to work with clergy, etc).  You and your clinician should also have a frank and up-front discussion about fees, insurances accepted, etc.   It may be wise to check with the various licensing boards of your state (e.g., your state’s Board of Psychology, or Board of Behavioral Sciences) to verify a clinician’s license and professional record with their licensing boards.  Note that clinicians are typically only permitted to render psychological/therapeutic services within the jurisdiction(s) where they hold license(s) for independent practice (even if they practice telehealth).

Therapists for Clergy/Missionaries:   Shepherd Heart has added a classified section for the paid ads of mental health practitioners who claim to have clinical experience working with clergy, clergy families, and congregants.  In publishing clinicians’ paid advertised listing, Shepherd Heart Ministry Consulting is not endorsing these clinicians, and is not responsible for the quality of their services to you or anyone else.  Shepherd Heart does not credential nor accredit any clinician, nor verify clinicians’ claims about themselves or their practices.  Choose from this (and any other) listing at your own risk.

I understand the above, and wish to find a therapist.
